About Buying a Rivian in the United States

Rivian is an American electric vehicle manufacturer based in Irvine, California, that sells exclusively through a direct-to-consumer model — similar to Tesla. There are no Rivian dealerships. Instead, buyers configure and order their vehicle online through Rivian’s website and can visit Rivian Spaces and Service Centers in select cities to see vehicles in person, take test drives, and get service. Rivian has been rapidly expanding its service center network, with locations now operating in major markets across the country including New York, Los Angeles, Chicago, Denver, Austin, Miami, and Atlanta.

The R1T pickup truck was the first electric pickup to reach production in the US, beating both the Ford F-150 Lightning and Tesla Cybertruck to market. It has earned widespread acclaim for its genuine off-road capability, innovative features like a gear tunnel storage compartment, and an integrated camp kitchen option. The R1S is its three-row SUV sibling, offering up to seven seats and competitive range. Both R1T and R1S received a significant second-generation update with improved range, faster charging, and lower starting prices. The upcoming R2 mid-size SUV, priced around $45,000, is expected to dramatically expand Rivian’s addressable market.

Because Rivian sells direct with no dealer network, pricing is transparent and fixed — there’s no negotiation and no dealer markup. However, used Rivians are increasingly available through third-party platforms like CarGurus, AutoTrader, and Cars.com, where pricing varies and comparison shopping can yield significant savings. Rivian offers an 8-year/175,000-mile battery and drivetrain warranty on new vehicles. To compare Rivian pricing against other electric vehicles, use our free Find My Car tool.
